In this tutorial we will be creating the bootloader that will allow you to run the macOS installer that will also be created in this guide onto your to-be Hackintosh. This will be created using a flash drive that needs to be 8GB or larger in size so that it has enough space ton hold the Sierra or El Capitan installer files.
You’ll need to be running macOS in order to complete this guide. If you do not have a mac available for use, you can learn how to create a virtual machine on your computer before following this guide:
OpenCore is what we refer to as a 'boot loader' – this is a complex piece of software that we use to prepare our systems for macOS – specifically by injecting new data for macOS such as SMBIOS, ACPI tables and kexts. How this tool differs from others like Clover is that it has been designed with security and quality in mind, allowing us to. The current release is 0.14. It is available in various forms. Both disk image distributions include the Installer package and can be burned as a bootable CD as well. All three binary distributions can be used to install rEFIt on a USB memory stick or other disk drives. REFIt 0.14 (6.5M Mac disk image) rEFIt 0.14 (6.5M ISO disk image).
STEP 1: Creating the macOS Installer
The first step to making a hackintosh is transferring the macOS install files to a USB flash drive to do that follow the guide: How to make a macOS flash drive installer
STEP 2: Setting up the EFI Boot Partition
- DownloadClover EFI Bootloader
- Unzip & Open Clover folder
- Right-click & Open Clover EFI Bootloader (Note: Unsigned Apps like Clover must be right-click opened to avoid security warning)
- Click Continue
- Click Continue again
- Click Change Install Location…
- Select your Flash Drive under destination
- Click Continue
- Click Customize
- Check the following boxes:
- Click Install
- Enter Password and click Install Software
- Click Close
- Click Keep if it prompts
Now that you have created a USB Installer you will need to make it bootable on your PC.
If you are following one of our custom guides return to that guide for custom boot steps.

This project is a new and updated branch of the Yosemite tree and is targetted at OS X 10.11 El Capitan with SIP support, automatic installer detection and fake board-id injection for unsupported models of the MacPro and MacBook Pro.
All downloads of boot.efi should be done from this project page. All other sources are unsupported.
Download your copy of the prebuild (32-bit) version of boot.efi for El Capitan (compiled on Microsoft Windows 10 with Microsoft Visual Studio 2015) with a black background and white Apple logo now, and verify the download by entering (either one) in a terminal window:
Or download the one for legacy hardware, with a grey background and logo for your Mac Pro and verify the download by entering (either one) in a terminal window:
Note: If the output is different, then your copy of boot.efi should not be used!
Don't want a prebuilt copy of boot.efi then compile the source code yourself, with either Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 or 2015. The latter requires you to update the solution files, but that should be done automatically in the MS Visual Studio IDE.

This project would not have been possible without the help of Peter Holbrook, Mike Boss and a number of other people. Peter did all compiling and Mike ran dozens of test builds that Peter pushed out over at forums.macrumors.com Awesome work guys. Job well done!
Clover Efi Bootloader For Mac
I'd also like to thank everyone else whoh helped with testing our nightly builds. Thank you so much!
If you need help with the setup then please visit this macrumor thread. Developers, or people who need help with compiling boot.efi themself, can visit this macrumors developer thread.
Note: I myself don't own any unsupported Apple hardware with a 32-bit EFI implementation, so I can probably do not much for you, but there may be others to help you.
